Q: What is Risk-Based Authentication (RBA) enhanced security?

A: You have always authenticated yourself into bill payment by entering your user name and password on the Login screen. Soon, we will also begin registering your computer’s fingerprint as an additional means of authentication. In addition, we will authenticate ourselves to you. You will know with certainty that you are visiting your credit union’s official bill payment site because you will be presented with your image and image name every time you login.

Q: Why are these changes being made?

A: RBA enhanced security offers you added safety by helping ensure that only you can access your bill payment account. Phishing is the fastest growing crime in the country. To ensure we proactively keep our members safe and secure, we are implementing this new security feature.

Q: What is a computer fingerprint?

A: When you visit Internet sites your computer sends information about itself to the site you’re visiting. This information includes things such as browser type and version, operating system and version, Javascript version, monitor display settings, etc. We will register this information on our system when you check the “Remember Me On This Computer” box below your challenge questions.

Q: How do I enroll in RBA enhanced security?

A: On the Login screen you will enter your username and then you will be prompted to enter your password. The first time through, you will need to enroll in RBA enhanced security. During enrollment, you will be asked to select an image and name the image. Once you’ve named your image, you will be asked to answer five challenge questions such as “What is your pet’s name?” and “Where were you born?.” You will then be returned to the Login screen where you will be allowed to log in to bill pay. To login, simply enter your username and password. When entering your password, you will notice that your image and image name appear on the screen. You may be asked to answer some of your challenge questions if we do not recognize your computer’s fingerprint. This will occur if you ever use a different computer to log in or if you do not check the “Remember Me On This Computer” box below your challenge questions. Checking this box stores your computer’s fingerprint on our system. If you do not check the box, we will not store your fingerprint and you will be required to answer the challenge questions every time you log in.

Q: Why do I need an image and image name to logon?

A: Fraudsters attempt to trick people into giving up their personal information, such as passwords and account numbers by creating fake web sites that look a lot like the real web site. This is called phishing. Your image and image name are a simple countermeasure to these attacks, as well as protection against other forms of identity fraud.

Q: How will the site be more secure?

A: The addition of RBA enhanced security will protect you from accidentally revealing your username and password to a fake site. In addition, if someone does somehow get your username and password, he will still not be able to access your account because he is not at your registered computer.

Q: What happens if my password is stolen? How will you keep someone from accessing my account?

A: When someone tries to login using your stolen username and password, we will recognize that they are logging in from a different computer and we will ask them your challenge questions. Since only you know the answers to your challenge questions, they will not be able to give a correct answer and will not be able to login.

Q: Why do I have to answer some of my challenge questions every time I log in?

A: You must check the “Remember Me On This Computer” box below your challenge questions so that we recognize your computer’s fingerprint. Checking this box registers your computer’s fingerprint on our system. If you do not check the box, we will not register your fingerprint and you will be required to answer the challenge questions every time you log in.

Q: What are some of the challenge questions that I may be asked?

A: Challenge questions are questions that you will be asked if you login from a computer that you have not registered. Once you answer these questions correctly you will be granted access to bill pay. Some of the challenge questions might be:
• What is your city of birth?
• What is your pet’s name?
• What is your mother’s maiden name?
• Who is your favorite actor?
• What is your favorite sport?
• Who is your favorite author?
